Making Life Good

What the Bible says about Making Life Good- part 1

Here are some facts to help you live more secure.

  1. Avoid riding in automobiles because they are responsible for 20 percent of all fatal accidents.
  2. Do not stay home because 17 percent of all accidents occur in the home.
  3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because 14 percent of all accidents occur to pedestrians.
  4. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water because 16 percent of all accidents involve these forms of transportation.
  5. Of the remaining 33 percent, 32 percent of all deaths occur in hospitals. Above all else, avoid hospitals

You will be pleased to learn that only .001 percent of all deaths occur in worship services in church, and these are usually related to previous physical disorders. Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is at church! Bible study is safe, too. The percentage of deaths during Bible study is evens less.

For safety sake, attend church and read your Bible…it could save your life.

There is more truth there than you think. The Bible teaches that there is a way to live the good life, not just morally well but one that is happy and fortunate as well.

"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. [2] But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. [3] He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers." (Psalm 1: 1-3 NIV)

Why do people think that living the Christian life and obeying scriptures results in a kind of "grin and bear it" existence; you know a life that is endured rather than enjoyed? Because somehow the idea of a Holy God and success, enjoyment, and prosperity just don't go together…except in the Bible.

God has promised a way for you to:

  1. Thrive in life (tree planted by steams of water) in stead of just get by. The whole idea of just barely making it is foreign to God's plan. He says those who follow His plan will live bigger, better, fuller lives than normal people. If you approach a river you will notice the big green trees that are on its banks. They stand out because they flourish above and beyond their surroundings. That is how God wants your life to be.
  2. Be successful (yields it fruit in its season). Living God's way means He is on your side, and is your helper. "The Lord is with me; he is my helper." (Psalm 118:7 NIV)
  3. Freedom from Failure (whose leaf does not wither). Even during hard times when others are withering, you can live above seasons of the culture. This does not mean hard times do not come. It means if you allow God to be your leader and helper, when all is said and done you will land on your feet. How awesome!
  4. Be prosperous (what ever he does he prospers). God want you to do well. This does not mean solid gold Cadillacs or BMWs, but it does mean that as you follow his principles for living that your winning record is bigger than your losing record. It also means you should have more than you need so that you can give away to others.

This life that God promises is real. It is living in His favor. Isn't it worth pursuing for you and your family? Commit to spending 2005 doing just that.
