The Cost of Real Worship- Magi Style

What the Bible says about Worship Part 2

It was Christmas and the judge was in a merry mood as he asked the prisoner, "What are you charged with?" "Doing my Christmas shopping early," replied the defendant.
"That's no offense," said the judge. "How early were you doing this shopping?" "Before the store opened," countered the prisoner.
Some people think of Christmas as a time to get. Get presents; get bonuses; get days off from work. Children are thinking, "What am I going to get?" Receiving all these things is a fun part of Christmas, but for everything that is received someone must give. The history of the magi, the "wise men from the east", who came and visited the Christ child is all about giving. These "men from the east" expressed an attitude when they came to worship the Christ child. They gave.
These men, foreigners, gave their time, effort and comfort of their own home and culture. These men also brought valuable gifts: gold, frankincense, and mirth. They honored Him.
"But now the LORD declares, for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed." (Isaiah 2:30)
There is an attitude that is often expressed in churches today. Instead of giving Him the first and the best, what is given is what is left over.
I have ministered in Kenya, Africa and seen thousands of people walk miles to go to a church that will be hot, long, but very passionate. They thought nothing of the cost to come and worship. The wise men traveled many miles for the sole purpose of giving to this Child.
Worship will cost you something. We can not honor or worship without giving something. We are to have a can-do spirit not a
make-do spirit. God does not want a WHATEVER attitude.
Bring Him the best- your best time, money and affections.

Whenever we put out effort to honor God's Son we find honor and blessing for ourselves. These men put out a great effort to go and worship this new born King and God made sure there efforts were recorded. Two thousand years later we are still talking about them. Just imagine for a minute how the Lord could bless and honor your family if you would honor Him. It will never hurt you to worship and honor God's Son.
